Peach flavour, limited in summer! From the Nigori (cloudy) wine series of Sasaichi Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. (笹一酒造株式会社) , 360-year old brewery in Yamanashi Prefecture
Home to cloudy wine, Sasaichi Shuzo launched a new flavour of peach, only available in summer.
Sasaichi Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. is a long-lasting brewery with more than 360 years of history, located at the entrance of Yamanashi Sake Kaido, meaning Sake/alcohol Route of Yamanashi. (HQ: Otsuki City of Yamanashi Prefecture, Representative Rei Amano)
The accumulated sales of Nigori wine series reached 1.2 million after its launch in 1982. A limited summer flavour of peach is added to the range on 4 July and became available through “Sasaichi Shuyukan” (brewery’s boutique) and Sasaichi online store (https://www.sasaichi.com/)
“Nigori wine Momo”, limited in summer
Nigori wine momo is made using the whole peach (fruit, juice and skin) grown in Yamanashi Prefecture, based on white wine. It has a juicy thick texture of peach. The peaches are strickly from Yamanashi Prefecture to provide genuine-fruit-like fresh textures. The alcohol level is kept at 7% to provide a clear easy drinking experiences. Being drunk straight, otherwise it can also be served with ice and/or sparkling water. Shake the package well to mix the contents and enjoy the cloudy wine.
What is Nigori (cloudy) wine?
Sasaichi Shuzo originally started the series of alcohol with fruits.
Yeast is left after the fermentation of grape juice to enjoy the cloudiness of the wine.
The alcohol is around 6 %, but it offers rich flavours and it has genuine-fruit-like textures. Fruity sweetness and fresh acidity making a good harmony, it can be enjoyed straight, with ice, or with sparkling water and so on. It is ideal for both a personal private drinking occasions, or cheerful home party settings.
How to enjoy Nigori wine
- Straight
Pore the wine into a glass. It is to recommended to enjoy the first sip as straight.
Enjoy the textures of fruits from each wine : Aka, Shiro, and Yuzu etc.
- Add ice
On a hot summer day, do you prefer to cold wine? It is possible with Nigori wine. Nigori wine can be stored at a room temperature and can rapidly be cooled down. Nigori wine tastes good even when freezing cold. It is largely recommended for clients looking for cold genuine-fruit-like textures.
- Add sparkling water
The ratio of Nigori wine and sparkling water is up to clients’ wants. If you want to keep the chunky / thick fruit textures, add just a little. You can make an original drink of yours with your favourite level of sparkles.
- Add fruits to make Sangria
If you add some fruits, sugar, spices and herbs to the Nigori wine and leave for 1-2 nights, it turns into a fruity and juicy Sangria. Acidity from the fruits and flavours of herbs are well balanced with sweetness and flavours of the Nigori wine. Seasoned fruits can separately be enjoyed as dessert. Enjoy with fruits and spices of your choice!

History of Sasaichi Sake Brewery Co., Ltd.
Sasaichi Sake Brewery Co., Ltd . is situated in Otsuki City of Yamanashi Prefecture, an entrance to the Yamanashi Sake Kaido, meaning Sake/alcohol Route of Yamanashi. It was started as Hanadaya in 1661. Inherited the family name, Hisa Amano, the first generation head transformed it to a company called Sasaichi Sake Brewery in 1919. Sasa was taken from its meaning of Sake, Ichi (No.1) was taken from the Mt Fuji. The highest mountain in Japan. The brewery continues to produce Sake using the water from the Mt Fuji and rice cultivated in Yamanashi Prefecture. It always had a motto to deliver rich fruit of the soil by transforming it into Sake
The Sake has been gaining high reputation. For example, in June 2022, Dan Yamahai Junmai Ginjo Bizen Omachi was granted a platinum award at ‘Kura Master’, a Sake competition born in France. The long-lasting Sake brewery started wine production under the brand of OLIFANT in 1953, thanks to a blessed location. Yamanashi is a pioneer in Japanese wine production. The company performs the whole process of wine production, from the grape cultivation to fermentation of the wine, on its own.
